Although scientists predict that there are billions of stars in the sky, they have been able to identify only about 400,000 of them so far. Saying "I'm from Turkey" in the United States feels like you're from another, yet undiscovered galaxy sometimes. Seeing how little people know about our rich culture and heritage, as well as our present and people, seems so unfair at times that it hurts. And it is such a loss for both sites.

We can no longer wait for the world to discover us -especially not in today's information super-highway where everybody is competing for even the slightest exposure and attention. We have to bring our own stars into light.

And now, there is a platform where we can all come together and join our efforts to meet that end: Moon and Stars Project. You actually know us as the organizers of MayFest. We have recently restructured to have a firmer base, but our focus is the same: Highlighting Turkish arts and culture in the United States.

One ouf our main goals is still keeping the Turkish-American community well connected to cultural life back home, but as we've grown, so too have our goals. Another one - one that we will be emphasizing more from now on - is maintaining a Turkish arts and cultural presence here throughout the year. This way, we expect to contribute to and eventually become a part of cultural mosaic that is America.

What's more, we aim to encourage the artistic development of our artists through scholarships, sponsorships, grants and exchange programs, as well as help them gain access and exposure.

Please, join us in whichever way you can, be it with your financial, organizational, or moral support. We need and expect to go on seeing you on our side. We have high goals, as high as the stars, but together we can make the best of our journey all the way beyond the skies.
